Masala Pori | Murmura Chivda | Spicy Puffed Rice recipe

This Masala Pori | Murmura Chivda | Spicy Puffed Rice recipe is a very easy to prepare recipe and can be prepared in less than 10 min of time and is a healthy recipe too.

Ingredients

  • Puffed rice/Pori - 3 cups
  • Coconut Oil - 3 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -  a pinch
  • Urud dal - little
  • Garlic - 8 to 10 crushed
  • Peanuts - 1/4 cup or more
  • Cashews - 5 to 6 optional
  • Roasted Gram/Pottu Kadalai - 1/4 cup or more
  • Curry leaves - handful
  • Dry Red Chillies - 2 to 3
  • Chilli Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - less than 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Sugar - For taste optional

Instructions

  • In a Pan, or wide vessel, add oil and when hot add mustard seeds and urud dal.
  • Add then rushed garlic and fry till it becomes light brown.
  • Then, add the peanuts, cashews, roasted gram, curry leaves, dry chillies and start frying it.
  • When the nuts becomes slightly brown, add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and Salt.
  • Add in the puffed rice and start mixing it worth the spices.
  • All spices well coated.
  • Check for the spicies and Salt now and adjust accordingly.
  • Add the sugar finally. (It is purely optional and I didn't add here).
  • Great tea time snack is ready. It Can be stored in air tight container.
