Here I have a added only coconut milk and omitted the black pepper since I&#8217;m going to give this gravy to my kids. So you can test by adding these different options according to your spice level.</p>

<p>1. As mentioned you can increase the green chili according to your spice level.</p>

<p><b>Ingredients</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Crab &#8211; 6 (big)</li>
<li>Mustard seeds &#8211; a pinch</li>
<li>Fennel seeds &#8211; 1/4 tsp</li>
<li>Cloves &#8211; 4</li>
<li>Cinnamon stick &#8211; 1 (crushed into pieces)</li>
<li>Star anise &#8211; 2</li>
<li>Cardamom &#8211; 1</li>
<li>Black gram &#8211; 1/2 tsp</li>
<li>Bengal Gram &#8211; 1 tsp</li>
<li>Green chillies &#8211; 3 (cut lengthwise)</li>
<li>Onion &#8211; 2 (chopped nicely)</li>
<li>Ginger garlic paste &#8211; 1 tsp</li>
<li>Curry leaves &#8211; few</li>
<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1/2 tsp</li>
<li>Coriander powder &#8211; 1/2 tsp</li>
<li>Chilli powder &#8211; 1/2 tsp (if more spicy is needed)</li>
<li>Salt as per taste</li>
<li>Sesame oil &#8211; 2 tsp</li>
<li>Coriander leaves for garnishing</li>
<li>Lime juice/Vinegar &#8211; 1/2 tsp</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Method</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Cook the crab with 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and little salt.</li>
<li>When the crabs becomes soft, remove it from stove and allow it to cool.</li>
<li>Remove the crab meat alone from the body and the bigger claws and keep it in a bowl.</li>
<li>In a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom.</li>
<li>When the mustard seeds splutter, add the black gram and bengal gram and fry.</li>
<li>When they becomes slight red colour, add the onions, ginger garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves and saute well.</li>
<li>When the onions becomes brown colour, add the crab meat, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, salt and cook for 3 mts.</li>
<li>Before switching off the stove add the vinegar or lime juice.</li>
<li>Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot as side dish.</li>

<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">In kadai add the crabs, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric and boil them, till they become soft.&nbsp;</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;"></span><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">Break the bigger claws and take out the flesh from it and keep aside in a bowl. The body and other claws can be put as it is.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">Meanwhile, grind the scraped coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic to a fine paste.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">In another kadai, heat up oil on medium flame and add the cloves, fennel.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">When they start spluttering, add the finely chopped onions, ginger garlic paste and curry leaves and fry well.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">Mix the ground paste, salt, crab body and smaller claws, tamarind paste and the remaining turmeric powder and 1/2 cup water and cook till the raw smell of ground paste goes off.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #515151; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 32px;">Now add the flesh to the curry, stir for 1 minute and switch off the stove.</span></li>

<li>In kadai, add oil and when it becomes hot add cloves, cardamom, saunf, cinnamon stick, onion, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves.</li>
<li>When the onion becomes brown, add tomato, green chillies and coriander leaves.</li>
<li>Saute the tomato well till it becomes soft.</li>
<li>Add the crab, salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and cook well by adding water.</li>
<li>Add vinegar and again cook till the contents becomes thick gravy.</li>
<li>Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.</li>
